Same side dutch braid (2 styles)

The Dutch Braid is a classic hairstyle that has been worn by many over the years. However, making it a side braid is an easy way to jazz it up a little and make the classic style a bit more different looking. It is definitely not a hard one to do, but may need a little practice. So, as long as you put in a little bit of effort, you would definitely be able to accomplish this one.

Enjoy the tutorial and come back soon for another one. :)

Difficulty: Easy

Tools:

- 1 comb/brush

- 1 or 2 hair elastic(s)/ hair tie(s)

Method:

1. [Optional] section off a chunk of hair from the end of your left eyebrow to the nape of your neck. ( this is NOT the side the braid is on)

2. Pick up some hair at the crown of the head but mostly towards the side you want the braid to sit ( I chose the right side) , gathering all the hair from the hairline.

3. Separate the hair into 3 sections.

4. Cross the left strand under the middle strand. Then, cross the right strand under the new middle strand.

5. Pick up a chunk of hair hair from the left side of the head and add it to the new left strand. Cross the entire section over the middle strand. (Try to use hair from the hairline on the left side of the head)

6. Repeat step 4 but with the right strand and hair from the right side of the head. (Try to use hair from the hairline)

7. Keep repeating steps 4 and 5 until you reach the nape of the neck and run out of hair to add in. (**If you sectioned off a chunk of hair in Step 1, do not add in that chunk of hair when braiding)

8. [Optional] Tie of the braid (and only the braid) in a ponytail at the nape of the neck.

You now have 2 Options...

Option 1(right)

9. Add the chunk of hair sectioned off in Step 1 to the ponytail. Continue the braid like a 3-strand braid. **You can also choose to stop braiding at this point.

10. When the braid is complete, secure the ends of the hair with an elastic.

Option 2(left)

9. Add the chunk of hair sectioned off in Step 1 to the ponytail. Continue the braid as a fishtail braid. **You can also choose to stop braiding at this point.

10. When the braid is complete, secure the ends of the hair with an elastic.

And your hairstyle is complete. Happy Hairstyling!
