Origami Boxes

These cute little origami boxes can be done in any size and can help store all your little nicknacks and keep your desk tidy. They are attractive enough to be presented to others as a gift but will also make a great box for a gift if your actual present is very small, like a pendant or earrings.

Difficulty: Medium-Hard

Tools:

-2 sheets of origami paper ( a square sheet of paper)

-PATIENCE! :)

Method:

Bottom of the box

1. Place a sheet of origami paper face down on the table (the side facing down will the side that will be seen)

2. Fold the top of the paper down to meet the bottom and unfold.

3. Fold the origami paper in half from left to right and unfold.

4.Fold the corners of the paper inward to meet at the middle.

5. At this stage, the paper should look like this.

6. Turn the paper 25º to either side so it looks like a square. Fold the right and left sides inwards to meet at the middle and crease the folds.

7. Unfold the folds made in step 6 and open up the creased tabs.

8. Fold the top and bottom of the paper so that they meet at the center.

9. Unfold the folds made in step 8 to a 90º angle. These will be 2 sides of the box.

10. Turn the paper 90º to either side. Bring the top corner/tab up and inwards, towards the center. The paper should fold easily, following the creases previously made.

11. Keep bringing the tap towards the center until it is at a 90º angle to the two sides of the box.

12. Fold the top the tab down. The tip should meet with the two tips of the other two sides.

13. Repeat this on the other end of the paper.

14. The box should now look like this.

Lid of the box

1. Place a sheet of origami paper on the table (the side facing down will the side that will be seen)

2. Repeat steps 2-5 from the "Bottom of the box" method above.

3. Turn the paper 25º to either side so it looks like a square. Fold the right and left sides inwards to almost meet at the middle and crease the folds.

4.Unfold the folds made in the previous step and open up the creased tabs.

5. Fold the top and bottom of the paper so that they almost meet at the center.

6.Repeat steps 9-14 from the "Bottom of the box" method above. Place this lid on the bottom of the box created above to complete this craft.

And your origami box is complete. Happy Crafting!
