Feather Waterfall Braid Tieback
This is a simpler variation of the classic waterfall braid which will always have that romantic and slightly whimsical look that every young girl hopes to achieve. The feather waterfall braid maintains the look of hair falling through the braid but gives the braider much more stability and control as the braid is less likely to fall out. Although the braid is demonstrated as a tieback, it definitely can also be done in other styles as well. It is a relatively simple hairstyle and is a great stepping stone to being to braid the original waterfall braid successfully.
Difficulty: Medium
Tools:
- 1 comb/brush
- 1 - 3 hair elastic(s)/ hair tie(s)
Method:
1. Gather some hair from directly above the middle of your right eyebrow.
2. Separate that section into 3 smaller strands.
3. Bring the top strand under the middle strand. Then, bring the bottom strand under the new middle strand.
4. Add some hair to the top strand before bringing it under the middle strand.
5. Separate a small sliver of hair from the bottom strand before bringing it under the middle strand. (* This is called feathering.)
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 in a diagonal motion until you reach the middle of the back of your head.
7. Continue the braid as a regular 3 strand braid for about 2 inches or 5 cm and secure the braid with a hair tie.
8. Repeat steps 1-7 with the hair above the middle of your left eyebrow.
9. Bring the ends of both braids together and secure them at the middle of the back of your head with an elastic. Remove the other 2 hair ties.
10. Comb out the hair falling through the braid to finish the look.
And your hairstyle is complete. Happy Hairstyling!
