Milkmaid Braids

This is a hairstyle that might seem difficult or complicated but is actually very simple. It can be done loose or tight to give different looks and definitely can be done on girls of all ages. So, try out this hairstyle and find out for yourself. Difficulty: Easy

Tools:

- 1 rat-tailed comb (preferably)*

- 2 Hair elastics/ Hair tie

- approx. 10 Bobby pins

* This is to help produce a straight parting

Method:

1. Part the hair into two equal parts using a rat-tailed comb.

2. Split one part into 3 equal sections and braid them, tying the ends with an elastic.

3. Repeat on other side

(*see the post "Double Braids" for more detailed steps)

4. Pick one braid and bring it up and over the top of the head to the other side. The braid should lay across the head horizontally, and around 2 inches or 5cm from the hairline. (See Picture left)

5. Bobby pin that braid into place, using the different stitches of braid to hide the pins.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the other braid. Lay this braid in front of the other.

7. Hide the ends of the braid by tucking the ends behind or under the other braid.

8. Bobby Pin as necessary.

And your hairstyle is complete. Happy Hairstyling!
