Hi everyone, I was rewatching The Hunger Games recently, and was reminded of this simple hairstyle. Katniss's braid is really only a messier and "fuller" version of the one shown here. It can also be said to be a wrap-around side braid with the braid wrapping around the head, starting on one side and ending on the other. I don't have much to say so let's just get on to the hairstyle.
I hope you find the instructions easy to follow as the photo isn't the clearest. Come back soon for another tutorial (hopefully with clearer pictures) :) Difficulty: Medium
Tools:
- 1 Hairbrush
- 1 Hair elastic/Hair tie
- Bobby pins*
- Hair spray*
*These can be used as desired but are not necessary.
Method:
1. Decide which side you want the braid to start on (Side 1).
2. Section off a small piece of hair slightly behind Side 1's ear and split it into 3 fairly equal sections.
3. Cross the top section under the middle section.
4. Cross the bottom section under the new middle section.
5. Add some hair to the now top section and cross it under the middle section.
6. Add some hair to the bottom section before crossing it under the new middle section.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 slanting the braid slightly downwards and following the nape of the neck to the opposite side of where the braid started (Side 2).
8. When all the hair is added in, continue the braid as a regular 3 strand braid, letting the loose braid rest on the shoulder of Side 2.
9. Pull and fluff the different sections of the braid as well as the sections being added into the braid, to give the braid a looser and casual look.
10. Add bobby pins and hairspray as desired.
And your hairstyle is complete. Happy Hairstyling!
