Double Braided Buns - 2 Ways (Primrose Everdeen "Mockingjay" Hairstyle)

This is Prim's hairstyle from the 3rd Hunger Games Movie "Mockingjay Part 1". This hairstyle is really quick as well as easy to accomplish. So, try it out and you just might surprize yourself. Difficulty: Medium.

Tools:

- 1 rat-tailed comb (preferably)*

- 2 Hair elastics/ Hair tie

- approx. 12-15 Bobby pins

* This is to help produce a straight parting

Method:

1. Part the hair into two equal parts using a rat-tailed comb.

2. Split one part into 3 equal sections and braid them, tying the ends with an elastic.

3. Repeat on the other part.

4. Pick one braid and start forming a bun.

The following steps can be done in two ways...

The roll-up method

5. Fold the ends of a braid in half, so that the ends face up.

6. Roll the braid up to form a bun. The ends should be hidden and be the center of the roll.

7. When the roll-up is completed, twist the roll slightly so that it rests on the head and bobby pin the bun in place.

8. Repeat steps 5 and 7 on the other braid.

The coil method

(The left braid is coiled first in this tutorial)

5. Use the start of the braid (near to the head) as the center of the bun.

6. Bring the braid up and over that center point so that the next few stitches of braid is directly above that point but rests against the head. This motion should be in an anticlockwise direction.*

7. Repeat step 6 until there are only the ends of the braid left. The braid should be coiled tightly around that center/starting point.

8. Hide the ends of the braid underneath the coil.

9. Bobby pin the coil securely.

10. Repeat steps 5-9 with the other braid. Step 6 should be done in a clockwise direction.*

*if the braid coiled is the left braid, the motion should be anticlockwise; if the braid coiled is the right braid, the motion should be clockwise.
